Unleashing Japanese Entertainment on the Global Stage in 2025 – REMOW Secures Strategic Investment Through Third-Party Allotment of Shares to Shueisha and Sumitomo Corporation

For the global expansion of Japanese entertainment culture, REMOW Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Akira Ishii; hereinafter “REMOW”), a company specializing in the worldwide distribution of film and entertainment content, has conducted a third-party allotment of shares to its principal shareholder, Shueisha Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Shinichi Hirano; hereinafter “Shueisha”), and Sumitomo Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Shingo Ueno; hereinafter “Sumitomo Corporation”) on December 23, 2024.

Through this capital infusion, REMOW aims to maximize synergies with Shueisha and Sumitomo Corporation, leveraging their intellectual properties, global business networks, and talent resources. This investment will further accelerate REMOW’s ongoing mission—pioneering a future where Japanese entertainment thrives on a global scale, a vision the company has been relentlessly pursuing since its founding in 2021.

Shaping the Future of Entertainment: REMOW’s Vision

The global accessibility of legally available Japanese entertainment remains significantly limited, leading to a widespread increase in piracy. Recognizing the detrimental impact this has on the industry as a whole, REMOW Inc. was established in 2021 with the mission of breaking this cycle and creating new opportunities for Japanese content on a global scale.

Since its founding, REMOW has successfully expanded the distribution of anime titles such as My Deer Friend Nokotan across 140 countries worldwide. The company has also launched a dedicated Japanese anime FAST channel across 18 Latin American countries, facilitated industry collaboration between Japanese publishers and government officials in Brazil, and expanded the reach of Japanese period dramas on streaming platforms across North America and beyond.

Looking ahead to 2025, REMOW is advancing the co-production of multiple anime titles in collaboration with Shueisha, with “Hell Teacher Nube” set to premiere first, followed by additional titles to be released sequentially via broadcast and streaming. The company is also spearheading the global distribution of works such as “TOUGEN ANKI” (Published by Akita Shoten), while further strengthening its merchandising business and expanding its proprietary content services.

With over 30 years of experience in film and anime production and distribution, Sumitomo Corporation has also developed a diverse portfolio across media, telecommunications, and real estate, both in Japan and internationally.
